HOMEWORK
You will find your child’s homework in his/her folder each night. Generally homework will consist of two short tasks: a math page and a spelling page. Our goal is that it takes no longer than 20 minutes to complete the homework in total. If for some reason your child is taking longer or finding it difficult to finish his or her work in that 20 minute period at home, please let me know right away so we can make homework more manageable.
NIGHTLY READING
In addition to the written homework your child should spend at least 15 more minutes per night in a reading activity. That would include you reading to your child, your child reading to you or both of you reading together. My hope is that reading is a positive time for your child that fits into your nightly routines. Find a comfortable spot and show your child that reading is something to cherish!
Your child will bring a specific leveled book to practice at night as well as a reading log, to keep track of the books he or she has read.
